We seek mechanistic insights into musculoskeletal biology within an evolutionary context. We deploy techniques from comparative anatomy, biomechanics and evolutionary biology to examine the relationship between form, function and performance across multiple scales of biological organization. Through this hierarchical framework, we aim to address two fundamental questions:
1) how do form-function dynamics relate to the evolution of diversity across the Tree of Life?
2) what are the performance linchpins that shape the normal and pathophysiology of musculoskeletal systems?
